Thank you to everyone who attended the December 9 Sounds of the Season holiday concert, featuring The Texas Tenors and the Kansas City Symphony, and benefiting The Mission Project! This was a truly memorable evening – all made possible by your incredible support!
For those who missed the show, this amazing, packed-house concert was held at the Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts in downtown Kansas City and included a special meet-and-greet with The Texas Tenors, finalists for America’s Got Talent. KMBC morning anchor Kris Ketz emceed the event, along with Jennifer Fisher of Olathe, a former Miss Kansas and wife of JC Fisher, one of The Texas Tenors. Thank you again to everyone who purchased tickets, sponsored the event, donated or helped us raise awareness.
To consider your support of The Mission Project, please consider a charitable donation … this holiday season or any time of year. Your gift will help grow our program and provide current participants with transportation, continuing education, fitness, job assistance, a 24-hour help line and more.
There is no other organization like The Mission Project – in Kansas City or across the country – yet there are thousands of young adults with special needs right here in our metro area who would thrive in such a program. You can help ensure they get the chance.
Donations to The Mission Project are tax deductible and count toward your 2011 taxes through December 31, 2011. Thank you in advance for your continued support; it’s generous supporters like you who help young adults with developmental disabilities discover “a world of independence, a life of possibilities.” What a wonderful gift!

Welcome to the Mission Project’s Website – The Mission Project is about supporting individuals with cognitive and other developmental disabilities in their quest to live independent, fulfilling lives in their community.
If you are wondering what the future holds for your son or daughter with developmental or cognitive disabilities (including Down syndrome, autism spectrum disorders and brain injury), The Mission Project may have some answers for you. Participants rent their own apartments just like other residents and work and volunteer in the KC Metro. "By providing transportation to jobs and recreational events, access to continuing education and fitness facilities like the Sylvester Powell Community Center, we enhance the quality of life experienced by our participants." "Our young adults rely on The Mission Project for the supports that allow them to participate in the life of the community," says Steering Committee President Bob Randall."
