Working out in the Gym

Sometimes we work out in the Gym

Fitness with Lee

Physical fitness is something most of us aspire to, but don't all achieve.  Mission Project participants at least have the opportunity to work on it - in the excellent facilities afforded by the Sylvester Powell Community Center (SPCC) in Mission.

Located within easy walking distance of participants' residences, the SPCC structures several activities especially for our young adults.

One of those activities is Fitness with Lee.  This class meets weekly to exercise in a reserved room under the direction and supervision of Lee, who is on the staff at SPCC, and is also a Suppoorting Member of the Mission Project.

Exercises stress muscle development and tone, flexibility, and coordination.

The SPCC provides equipment, including mats, barbells, steps, and other exercise equipment as needed.  Lee brings recorded music, around which the work becomes fun.   As full members of the SPCC, participants can also make use of treadmills, bicycles, and other equipment available to all members.

Finally, as members, our young adults have access to the indoor pool.  In a future article, we'll talk about Water Aerobics classes taken by some of our participants.
